Tees Active Celebrates National Fitness Day with a Week of Free Activities, Challenges and Offers

National Fitness Day returns on Wednesday 16 September, and Tees Active is inviting people across the Borough to get moving with a packed programme of free activities, fitness challenges and exclusive offers designed to make being active more accessible than ever.

National Fitness Day is the UK’s biggest celebration of physical activity, led by ukactive, encouraging people of all ages and abilities to discover the benefits of moving more and taking positive steps towards a healthier lifestyle. This year’s campaign theme,“Powered by You”, celebrates the role everyone can play in improving their own health and wellbeing.

To mark the occasion, Tees Active and Activ8 Fitness Clubs are delivering a programme from Monday 14 to Friday 18 September, with opportunities to try new activities, access free facilities and take advantage of special membership offers.

Free Passes and Special Membership Offers

Throughout the week, non-members can enjoy free gym passes at Activ8 Fitness Clubs, while on Wednesday 16 September visitors can take advantage of a free gym, swim and sauna pass, giving full access to Tees Active’s fitness and leisure facilities. Find out more here.

Take on the Challenge

Fitness enthusiasts can test themselves in two exciting challenges running throughout National Fitness Day week.

The Gym Plank Challenge will see participants put their core strength to the test, with everyone completing the challenge entered into a prize draw. Meanwhile, the Technogym 2000 MOVEs Challenge encourages members and visitors to stay active by tracking their activity and reaching 2,000 MOVEs for the chance to win a prize. Find out more here.

Free Health Checks and Team Teach Fitness Classes

Tees Active’s Health Team will be visiting venues across the borough on Wednesday 16 September, providing free health checks, including BMI measurements, blood pressure checks and wellbeing advice.

Health checks will be available at:

IB Leisure: 10:00am to 11:00am
Billingham Forum: 11:30am to 12:30pm
Stockton Splash: 3:00pm to 4:00pm
Thornaby Pavilion: 6:30pm to 7:30pm

A range of special team teach fitness classes will also be taking place throughout the day, including Aqua Fit, Bounce, Body Combat and Body Attack sessions across multiple venues. Find out more here.

National Fitness Day at Tees Active extends far beyond the gym.

Swimming activities include:

Free Parent & Toddler Fun Floats session at Billingham Forum
Free Adult Learn to Swim taster sessions at IB Leisure and Thornaby Pool
Free Adult Technique Improver session at Billingham Forum

Outdoor enthusiasts can join a free 5km run at Tees Barrage, while adventurers can enjoy half-price GoClimb sessions during the evening. Families and friends can also take advantage of a buy one get one free Simply Skate session at Billingham Forum Ice Arena. Find out more here.
